     This is the home of the Wallins Volunteer Fire Department web site.The department is located in the mountains of southeast Kentucky. We have a full volunteer staff of 24 members that are on call 24-7 serving Harlan county. The department is a non-profit organization that operates through donations only, and would appreciate any donations you could send. Send them to Wallins Vol. Fire Dept. P.O.      Our services are structural fire suppression, wildfire suppression, haz-mat operational level, and rescue operational level. The department has a primary response area of 5 miles. Area covered are Wallins, Kentenia, Low, Twila, Creech, Coldiron, Layman,  Molus, Pathfork, Alva, Longton, Tremont, and Freshmeadows. The dispatch method is dialing 911. The Kentucky State Police post 10 in Harlan County over sees all radio traffic and dispatching.

     If you are wanting to join the Wallins Fire Department you can stop in on one of meeting nights on Thursday or Saturday at 7:00pm and fill out an application. Come on by and talk to our Chief and firefighting staff and see what it is like. Must be at least 18 years old.
